October 12, 2009:
Today marks 11 years since Positive Focus officially became a non-profit as a 501c3. It was a BIG day! I share the journey with you as a reminder that life is rarely a this OR that, as I find it to be more of a this AND that. In these 11 years, there have been lots of celebrations AND lots of challenges. Know whatever you find yourself currently moving through, that LOVE is right there guiding you on your journey. Sometimes LOVE is active and at the forefront of your thoughts, words, and actions. Sometimes LOVE is passive and awaits you to look for it for guidance. And yet, it is there through your celebrations and your challenges.
My 11-year journey with PF:
11 years later, there have been many highs, many lows, many days of wanting to close the doors and give up as it’s been filled with self-doubt, fear, comparison to other nonprofits who were doing a ‘better job, and what was I thinking that I could lead a global organization?
There are rating systems for non-profits on how much they give/serve compared to their overhead. PF is not on those lists as we are tiny compared to the Red Crosses, Goodwills, and other well-known nonprofits globally.
Ratings measured on money earned, PF wouldn’t have a high rating, yet there is always enough to keep going.
Ratings measured on helping others feel seen, heard, and know they matter globally, PF would be much higher, yet I yearn to do more.
Ratings measured by passion, purpose, and desire, my rating would be very high. Even though I often feel I need to Be more and Do more to shine the light on LOVE, kindness, and compassion, I forge on even on my lowest days. It is in my bones to do the work I do. Quitting Positive Focus would be quitting me… and that isn’t an option.
In these 11 years, I’ve met amazing people because of PF and built lifelong friendships. People have come and gone, and each one has helped shape me. I’ve enjoyed working with some of the top spiritual teachers doing similar work because of PF.

For those who have cheered me on from the sidelines, I THANK YOU.
While I continue to grow Positive Focus, PF continues to grow me.
