Tips to have a gentle holiday

While many people are joyful and excited about the holiday season, it creates great angst, isolation, and sadness for others. The 2020 holiday season has an additional layer of challenges with the global pandemic. Please know, there isn’t one particular way to walk through the holiday season. You get to choose how to move through it. You get to choose how slow or how quickly you move through it. You get to choose if you want to ignore it completely or make the best of it. However, you can; your choice will be what is best for you right now. Let it be a gentle journey.

I invite you to choose what brings a little gentleness to your heart. Here are five tips to consider:

  1. Be of Service: volunteer, be of service to yourself or others. When you are of service to others, you are feeding and nurturing yourself just as much as you are of service to them.

  2. Create a new mind association with the holiday if the holiday doesn’t feel good to you. Do something different than in years past and create a new tradition.

  3. Give yourself the gift of forgiveness. Forgive yourself for your own harsh judgments and lighten your heart. Feel your feeling AND be gentle with yourself.

  4. Honor those that are still here this holiday season, as well as honoring those who are gone. Create an altar, light a candle, or create a tradition that will honor your LOVED ones.

  5. Release stress and focus on gratitude. Remember, your presence is far more important than your presents.

However you choose to move through this holiday season, I send you much LOVE to hold you in warmth and gentleness.

Affirmation:

I am gentle with myself.
