As you know, if you’ve been following me for any length of time, music is BIG in my world. I LOVE going to live concerts, and I LOVE listening to music. I have several different playlists, depending on my mood. Today, I chose to listen to a recommended playlist Spotify put together for me, and it was pretty good. I enjoyed it while I worked, and then a song came on that I’ve probably heard a 1000 times as it’s a massive Whitney Houston hit and a song that I LOVE. The song ‘I Will Always LOVE You’ came on. But today, I listened to the lyrics a little differently than I had in the past.
While the song is about leaving a romantic relationship while still LOVING them, today, I heard the lyrics from the way I live my life and what I use in my coaching… LOVE all and then choose who you share your precious time, energy, and heart with.
If I should stay, I would only be in your way So I’ll go, but I know I’ll think of you every step of the way
Whether it’s a romance, friendship, job, or anything else that isn’t for your highest good, staying in it allows it to be in the way of the life YOU dream of living.
Bittersweet memories That is all I’m taking with me So, goodbye Please, don’t cry We both know I’m not what you, you need
You’ve heard the saying before, ‘a reason, a season, or a lifetime.’ Some of our biggest relationships ran their course when the reason was met. Or, they run the course when the season for the connection is over. It doesn’t make the relationships wrong, but rather they served what they were there to serve for you… AND for them. Just because you know the relationship isn’t for your highest good doesn’t mean it’s easy to leave. I encourage you to consider that if the struggle far outweighs the support, let them be a reason or season relationship and not a lifetime one.
I hope life treats you kind And I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of And I wish to you joy and happiness But above all this, I wish you LOVE
And I will always LOVE you
Whatever you are releasing and moving on from, send LOVE and wish them well. The more you can release the struggle, frustration, and hurt that is causing you to leave it, the easier it will be to send them off with LOVE. If you believe that we are all energetically connected, holding on to the anger and resentment that stays in you even if they are no longer in your life. Heal YOU as you let them go. Their healing is for them to do…or not.
Whatever type of relationship it is, a significant other, family member, friend, boss, colleague, or client, you deserve to be in healthy and balanced relationships. Only you will know when it’s time to go, what you are willing to put up with, or what you are willing to work on. I need to say this in each blog…
It’s not about right or wrong, but rather what is right for you right now.
Moving forward, I encourage you to take a moment and ask yourself which relationships you are currently in that are for your highest good, are healthy, balanced, and supportive. Nurture those and LOVE always.
Then, ask yourself which relationships currently drain your energy leaving you depleted and feeling less than your best self? Lessen your time with those or remove yourself completely while LOVING always.
Please know that a healthy balanced relationship doesn’t mean it is always healthy and balanced. It does mean that it’s healthy most of the time. It’s more balanced than it is, sucking your energy. The challenges that come up in the relationship help you grow rather than make you feel stuck.
Remember, all relationships require work; that isn’t what this is about. It is about knowing what to nurture and what to walk away from while still LOVING always. It’s about knowing how important a role they play in your life and the time/energy you willingly give them. Is there a balance? Or, is it time to distance yourself from them – while still LOVING always. It’s not about shutting people out of your life, but rather knowing who you can fully LOVE while participating in their life and who you need to distance yourself from to remain LOVING always.
Mostly, my wish is as you read this, are you take a moment to ask yourself how you show up to LOVE YOU? The more you LOVE yourself and are comfortable in your own skin, the more you will attract others who are a match.
Until next time, I will always LOVE you… now LOVE you too.
Big hugs and much LOVE,
***Update: All of my coaching/writing is not a one-size-fits-all as there will always be extenuating circumstances. For instance, in this blog, a relationship that requires constant caregiving, whether it be child, spouse, or aging parents, is a far different situation than leaving a romance, friendship, or job that you are struggling in. I am not endorsing leaving your responsibilities. I am endorsing you to live LOVE always in whatever circumstance you find yourself in. My coaching/writing encourages you to live your best life from a place of LOVE, kindness, and compassion for yourself and others.
