Today Tony, Frank, and I offered Holiday Hugs in downtown Chicago (Michigan Ave./Pearson St.). Before the pandemic, this event was our biggest one-day hug event. We would each get 100+, and people would be lined up to get a hug. People were in a festive and hugging mood.
I’ve been hugging since 2008; two years without it has been difficult. I have witnessed and experienced the power of hugs, and I will continue to offer them to spread LOVE and kindness in this beautiful and messy world.
Today we received 51 collectively, bringing our Million Hug Movement to 52,487.
A couple of interactions from the day:
- A girl, who appeared to be around 7, looked at my sign and asked what it meant. I told her I was offering free hugs. She quickly came in for a tight hug and a big smile.
- A mom and daughter walked past us and smiled; a few minutes later, they came back, and both got a hug. They said they had always wanted to try free hugs, but then COVID hit.
