Are you going through a big challenge in your life right now? Perhaps you are feeling alone and need to feel comforted. Perhaps it’s in the workplace, and you need to feel respected. Perhaps it’s in your finances, and you need to feel safe. Perhaps it’s a national or global issue, and you need to feel seen and heard.
So, when does healing begin, you ask? At that moment, you surrender and ask it to start
Whenever you become aware of the need for LOVE and energy, healing is the exact moment your healing begins. Some can experience miracles, and the healing is instantaneous. Most, however, go through stages of healing, and the time it takes is different for everyone. It’s important to remember that healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but it no longer paralyzes you when you think about the painful experience.
When healing of a wound begins, it usually gets red and messy first – but it is just in the first stage of healing.
Sometimes it gets infected and requires extra care – but it is still healing.
Sometimes it requires medical or professional intervention – but it is still healing.
Sometimes we rip the Band-Aid off too soon, and it looks worse – but it is still healing.
Sometimes we ignore it and don’t nurture the healing – but it is still healing.
Then it gets itchy, and you don’t want to leave it alone – but it is healing.
Then it scabs over, and you want it to go away – but it is still healing.
Sometimes you continue to pick at it, keeping the wound open – but it is still healing.
The scab falls off, and you can still see the red mark it left – but it is still healing.
Sometimes a scar is left behind. Sometimes the scar fades. Sometimes the scar is invisible, but you know it was there. Sometimes the scar stays as a reminder of a wound that, although now healed, made a significant mark on your life.
The healing has begun even if the scar of its existence hasn’t faded.
I see you. I hear you. I believe you. I LOVE you. (((HUGS)))
Moving forward, I invite you to heal whatever big or small wound you are dealing with by:
Being gentle with yourself and others. Know that you are doing the best you can at the moment. Often, you are showing up as your best self, but there are many times when you don’t. That person needs to feel LOVED too.
Feeling the moment. All our emotions, from light to heavy, serve a purpose. They help us see what is working (feeling good) and help us see what isn’t (feeling less than). Be okay to sit with uncertainty, loneliness, frustration, anger, or any emotion that has you feeling less than. Thank them for being a barometer on your feelings so you can begin to reach for ones that feel better… even in the smallest of ways.
Reach out to others. Ask for help to let people know you are in pain and need help healing. It could be a friend, it could be a family member, a colleague, and it can certainly be professional assistance.
Help others. Step out of your situation for a moment and help another. It can be as easy as smiling at everyone you meet, or saying a kind word, or holding a door open, offering a hug, or something that takes more time. When we help others, we realize we aren’t alone on this journey of peaks and valleys and end up helping ourselves too.
Mostly, my wish for you this week is to realize that even when you are in your deepest pain or grief, that healing has begun. It may be so small, but it’s there as LOVE is there. LOVE walks with you, beside you, in front of you, behind you, below you, above you, and within you. You are LOVED as you are… scars and all.
