Holding Gratitude

This year feels like it is moving quickly to me. Thanksgiving is here, and the holiday season is in full swing. For many people, this time of year brings joy, connection, and traditions they look forward to. For others, it can stir up heaviness, loneliness, or memories of people and relationships that have shifted. I have felt both over the years. I have celebrated with a whole heart, and I have moved through holidays when grief sat close by.

What helps me most is returning to gratitude. Not the kind that asks me to ignore what is real, but the kind that invites me to look for meaning in both the ease and the challenge. Some seasons make gratitude simple. Other seasons ask me to slow down and discover it moment by moment.

Wherever you find yourself this holiday season, whether you are excited to celebrate or simply trying to make it through, I see you. You matter. Your joy does not erase someone else’s struggle, and your struggle does not take away anyone else’s joy. This season holds many truths at once. It is both beautiful and messy, much like daily living.

Moving forward, I invite you to feel connected by:

Taking a moment to notice how you’re feeling.

Pause and really check in with yourself. Giving yourself that attention can make the holidays a little easier to get through.

Listening to what you need and honoring it.

Your needs matter. If you feel excited to celebrate, enjoy that. If you feel tender or tired, allow space for that. You do not have to match anyone else’s pace. You get to care for yourself in the way that feels right.

Reaching out and giving in small ways.

Connection can come through simple gestures. A quick text or “thinking of you” message can brighten someone’s day. You might also consider volunteering or helping someone in need. Sharing your time and care can create meaningful moments for both you and the person receiving it, and it can remind you that even small acts matter.

Invite gratitude in gently.

Gratitude does not have to feel big or perfect. Start with noticing one small thing in your day, something that brings even a little relief or comfort. Let it grow naturally without pressure. These small moments can help you feel a little lighter, even when the holidays are hard.

If you are navigating joy, challenge, or a mix of both during the holidays, you are not walking it alone. I help people move through these seasons with more gentleness for themselves and more confidence in their own voice. If you feel ready for support, I am here.

Affirmation

I honor how I feel.
