For Good

I saw the movie Wicked: For Good last week, and I know it will stay with me for a long time. I love movies and music, so I fully expected to love it, and it did not disappoint. This is part two of last year’s Wicked, and I loved part one just as much. While the music and performances were incredible, what truly captured my heart was the song For Good, which I knew well after seeing the Broadway production several times.

What also struck me was how clearly the movie shows the complexity of people. Glinda and Elphaba are labeled the good witch and the evil witch, yet the story invites us to look beyond those labels. You see their growth, their missteps, their humanity. It also showed the complexities of other characters. It is a reminder that people are rarely just one thing, and neither are we.

The song For Good lives inside me. The line about being changed for good feels especially powerful. It made me reflect on the people who have walked through my life. Some brought celebration and connection. Others brought pain and challenge. Every one of them played a role in shaping who I am today. I like the person I have become.

Reflecting on life this way also brings up the idea of regrets. I do not have regrets because even the challenging moments contributed to my evolution. That does not mean I would choose those experiences again, but I try to find gratitude in what they taught me. I love Brené Brown’s work. She talks about having regrets from the past, and that it is okay if you do. What matters most is how you move forward.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit As you reflect on your own life, I invite you to notice how you have been the constant. You have navigated joy and disappointment. You have adapted, learned, and kept going. You are not just someone things happened to. You are the one who moved through it all.

Moving forward, I invite you to honor your growth by:

Noticing who you have become.

Take time to acknowledge how you have grown through both ease and challenge. You are not the same person you were years ago, and that growth did not happen by accident.

Giving yourself credit for navigating hard moments.

You found ways to move through experiences that stretched you. Even when it felt messy, scary, or uncertain, you kept choosing to show up.

Honoring your experiences.

Look at your life openly and without judgment. Every experience, even the hard ones, has shaped who you are and contributed to your growth.
