Beyond the Smile

If you had met me 20 years ago, you would have met someone who looked a lot like me now. Joyful. Optimistic. Focused on the good. I’ve always been someone who looked for rainbows in the rain and silver linings in the storm. I saw life as beautiful, and I still do.

What I didn’t see back then was how often I used positivity to avoid pain. I wouldn’t have described myself as toxically positive, and yet that’s what was happening. I had pain. Romances that didn’t work out. Jobs that fell through. An undercurrent of feeling unworthy. But instead of healing, I buried the hurt and continued to smile. I thought that was a strength. And it was, in part. But it was also avoidance.

Today, I still lean into joy. I still find humor in the silly things in life. But I also pause. I breathe. I allow myself to feel the sorrow, uncertainty, and frustration, too. It’s still uncomfortable at times, but it’s freeing. It makes the light even brighter.

That clarity came with time, reflection, and a willingness to feel more deeply. You don’t have to rush it, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Moving forward, I invite you embrace your full range of emotions by:

Permitting yourself to feel it all. Joy, sorrow, frustration, and hope all belong.

Finding the silver lining while also recognizing the gray skies. This and that, not this or that.

Reflecting on past hard times you have navigated and remembering your resilience.

Reminding yourself daily that you are worthy. Your emotions are valid, and you are not broken.

Whether you are in a tough season or celebrating a joyful one, you deserve support that honors your whole self. I am here for the laughter and the tears, the wins and the wobbles, and most of all, to walk with you as you grow into the life you truly want to live. If you are ready to explore what that life can look like, rooted in joy, clarity, and intention, I invite you to schedule a discovery call with me. Let’s take the next step together.

Affirmation:

Feel it. Heal it.
