I was going over some pictures recently and found some of a vacation in Jamaica. It was such a great trip. We did the Dunn’s River Falls excursion, which was breathtakingly beautiful and a little scary for this girl with short legs. See you walk in a group, often hand in hand up the falls while the water is rushing over your feet, and sometimes knees. There were times along the walk that the next steppingstone appeared too far for me to step on. I wasn’t afraid of getting hurt as I was part of a chain, but I was scared of not being as fast as the rest of the group as there were times; I needed to go a little slower to make sure I could reach the next step. I certainly felt accomplished once it was over, but I now realize I was focused more on fitting in rather than enjoying the journey.
Reminiscing on the trip has me wondering if we are terrified of missteps or are afraid of not keeping up with others along the journey? We often hear the saying one step forward and two steps back. What if we could see the ‘steps back’ as providing us another vantage point on our journey to adjust how we get to our destination rather than seeing it as stopping us from our goal. What if we began to step forward, and yes, sometimes backward, realizing EACH step serves a purpose? Each step allows us an opportunity to grow, meet new people, and affirm if we are on the path we are excited about, the path we are passionate about, the path that makes us feel alive.
Moving forward, I invite you to step into living your best life by:
Going for it regardless of if others say you can’t or shouldn’t do it as that is their fear. Go for what makes you feel alive. Go for what puts a huge smile on your face. Go for what makes you want to jump out of bed and start your day.
Taking YOUR time as whether you feel the need to crawl, tiptoe, walk, hop, skip, jump, or run, the journey is where LOVE lives, where laughter happens, and where memories are created to share once you’ve reached the destination.
Mostly my wish for you this week is to realize each step you take is a step closer to living your best life, whether it be a success or a perceived setback, as each one allows you the opportunity to create your path.
Until next time, wishing your steppingstones brings you down a path, allowing in more profound LOVE, laughter, and happiness.
Affirmation:
I step forward into LOVING my life at a deeper level.
