Four more…

March 8, 2020, was my last recorded hug count. Cindy offered 35 hugs in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She’s been joining me for several years as a hug ambassador, and one of my favorite hug experiences took place with her in Niagra Falls as we gave out 506 hugs in 90 minutes.

Fast forward to May 20, 2021 – 14 months since my last hugs event in Chicago. I headed down to the harbor for the first time in over a year as I volunteer with an organization that teaches people with physical limitations on sailing. I hadn’t seen my sailing family since the fall of 2019, and it was so good to be down at the lake with them. I gave out FOUR hugs, fully vaccinated and masked up. While it wasn’t hugging strangers, it was great to be able to hug again – safely.

COVID has slowed down our movement toward a million hugs, but it hasn’t stopped it.

Hugging: the truest form of giving and receiving. – yours truly.

Wherever you find yourself today, whether in celebration or sorrow, I send you a BIG VIRTUAL ((HUG)). Feel it and take it in.

Hug count: 52, 343
