Do you ever have a blah day? A day when you cannot seem to motivate yourself to do anything? I had one a few days ago. Normally, I stay pretty busy with a variety of things like household needs, creating and scheduling social media posts, dreaming up new ideas for clients, and, of course, growing Global Hugs Weekend. But on this particular day, even inviting people to join me for hugs felt like a chore.
I was not sad. I was not mad. I was simply, blah.
We are so ingrained in doing, doing, doing that I caught myself feeling frustrated with myself for not doing. But when I paused and realized what I actually needed was rest, not pressure, something shifted. My mood did not suddenly become over-the-top joyful, but it softened. The heaviness lifted a bit when I recognized this was just a moment in time, not who I am.
I am sharing this as a reminder. Please do not beat yourself up for whatever feels off. Instead, get curious. Ask yourself why. But leave judgment out of it. Beating yourself up keeps you stuck in that low-energy space. Gentleness, on the other hand, creates room to move forward at your own pace.
Moving forward, I invite you to move through your blah by:
Permitting yourself to pause
Not every moment is meant for productivity. Sometimes your body and mind are asking for a reset. Honor that without guilt.
Checking in with what you actually need
Is it rest, connection, or maybe just a change of scenery? A simple check-in can help you respond to yourself with care instead of criticism.
Lowering the bar for the day
Instead of your usual to-do list, choose one or two small, manageable things. Let that be enough. Progress does not always have to be big to matter.
Practicing self-kindness
Speak to yourself the way you would to someone you love. Encouragement and compassion go much further than pressure ever will.
Blah days will come and go. They are not a failure. They are part of being human. The more gently you meet yourself in those moments, the easier it becomes to move through them and return to your natural rhythm.
If you could use some support in creating a life you truly love, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Schedule a discovery call with me, and let’s play with what is possible.
Affirmation:
I honor my feelings.
